2017 Episode 5 #wespeakout – Gender Roles, Exploitation & Violence against Men

Violence against men is a reality not often spoken about. In this week’s podcast, I am joined by Rebecca Kotz, an advocate against sexual exploitation and abuse, of men and women. We talk about the prevention of men’s violence and about  the lessons learned while working with perpetrators of abuse and trafficking. Lessons about deeply entrenched gender roles and how control, patriarchy and male dominance have been taught and used to exploit women. We touch on why we as women need to tell our stories and how care givers can and do sometimes experience secondary trauma and why it is necessary to take care of ourselves. The silence of women is a global reality, are we undoing it? Listen to our conversation and find out the answer. This conversation dives in to the pain and the reality of exploitation of women, yet we lift up the hope we have in the Saviour and how we are called to speak out. Pearls of wisdom in this podcast!
